Java Lanes, 3800 E. Pacific Coast Hwy., Long Beach, CA

In addition to one of the greatest roadside signs anywhere, Java Lanes also has a revamped lounge and coffee shop. The coffee shop, sadly, verges on "Fonzie '50s." However, the lounge is perfect: Red leather booths, dim lighting and a giant volcano in the middle of the room! The Lava Lounge has become quite the hip place for up-and-coming L.A. bands to perform.
