Carved door pulls

A few years ago I noticed a really nice set of tiki door handles at the (now demolished) Kono Hawaii Restaurant in Santa Ana, California. I wondered where they came from, and now I know. Here's a whole host of tiki door handles -- Which should give you some idea of the variety of stuff OA has. They do a lot of their own carving, but some items are imported.

The next photo depicts a few tikis from OA's rental collection. There are many, many, many more. A tiki fan doesn't know where to look.

Rent-A-Tiki

Here's where the magic begins! A glimpse into one of the workshops at OA. Small tiki candle-holders stand at the far right hand side. What appear to be the beginnings of hanging wood signs sit on the table in the foreground.

The OA Workshop

This place is, (to paraphrase Homer Simpson,) more artsy and less fartsy. Just LOOK at this place! Any guy with an OUNCE of testosterone would kill for a workshop like this.

Oceanic Arts is open to the public from 8 - 4 on weekdays and 10 - 1 on Saturdays. For more information, call Bob, Leroy and their friendly staff at (562) 698-6960. OA also has their own small website at OceanicArts.net.
